Telegram Premium and Stars Unavailable in Germany: How to Still Buy

MyStars.tg Team7 min read

If you opened Telegram on your German phone, went into Settings, and noticed the Premium option just isn't there — you're not missing a menu. Telegram Premium and Telegram Stars are not sold to German-registered accounts. Multiple user reports on Reddit and a dedicated Telegram bug-tracker ticket confirm the same pattern: @PremiumBot returns "not available in your country," the in-app purchase screen doesn't render for German users, and channel owners trying to monetize with Stars discover their German audience simply can't pay.

This article covers three things: what's actually broken, why it probably won't get fixed any time soon, and how to buy and gift Premium or Stars anyway without swapping your phone number, your SIM, or your App Store region. For the broader picture across other affected countries, see our country-by-country restrictions guide.

What's blocked, concretely

As of April 2026, here's what German-registered Telegram users report:

  • Premium purchase — the Settings → Telegram Premium screen either hides the Buy button or shows "not available in your country."
  • @PremiumBot — returns the same unavailability message when you try to buy for yourself or gift.
  • Stars purchase — the in-app Stars top-up flow fails for DE accounts; the Wallet/Payments section often shows "unsupported region" for related features.
  • Stars spending — trying to pay a Stars-gated post or tip a creator silently fails or blocks at the payment sheet.
  • Channel monetization — if you run a paid channel with a predominantly German audience, most of your readers can't buy the Stars needed to subscribe.

What isn't blocked: receiving. If a Premium or Stars gift is sent to a German username, it arrives and works. The Premium crown shows up. The Stars land in the balance. The restriction is on the buying side — specifically the payment processors Telegram uses in Germany — not on the product itself. This is the gap we fill.

Why it probably isn't a bug

Short version: Telegram's own Premium FAQ says availability depends on local laws and payment-processor support. Germany's interpretation of EU digital-services and consumer-protection rules around in-app purchases has made several messaging and VoIP features awkward to ship there. We're not going to guess whether the block is voluntary on Telegram's part, forced by Stripe/Apple/Google's German operations, or the result of a specific regulatory notice — any of those is plausible. What matters for you is that it's systematic and has held for multiple months, so a quick fix from Telegram is unlikely.

What some users try that doesn't durably work:

  • Swapping to a Ukrainian or US SIM. Works sometimes, then the restriction reapplies. Fragile and disruptive to every other app tied to your number.
  • Changing App Store region to Austria or the Netherlands. Breaks existing purchases and subscriptions, still doesn't always unblock @PremiumBot because the block is on the account's registered country, not the device.
  • Asking a friend in another country to gift Premium. Works, but awkward, and doesn't cover Stars spending at all.
  • Fragment.com directly. Works for those willing to set up a TON wallet, learn ton_proof, and navigate Fragment's UI. Fine if you're already crypto-native, slow if you aren't.

The crypto route (what we actually do)

Germany's Telegram accounts can still receive Premium and Stars. The block is on payment, not on delivery. A crypto payment skips Apple, Google, Stripe, and your Sparkasse card entirely. You send TON or USDT once; we deliver Stars or Premium to the username you specify. That username can be your own (@yourself) or anyone else's.

The full walkthrough is in our buy Premium with crypto post — including the 3/6/12-month pricing and the gift flow — and our buy Telegram Stars with TON (no card required) guide covers the Stars path step-by-step. Condensed version for a German buyer:

  1. Open MyStars.tg (web or the Telegram Mini App — both fine from a German number).
  2. Choose Stars (50 minimum, no max) or Premium (3, 6, or 12 months; 12-month is the best per-month rate).
  3. Type a Telegram username. This can be your own German handle — the delivery works because we're using Telegram's gift system, which accepts cross-region gifts to any valid username.
  4. Pick TON or USDT. Both run on the TON blockchain. See TON vs USDT for EU buyers for the tradeoffs. Short version: TON is cheaper (no platform fees beyond a small TON network gas fee), USDT is easier to price-plan because of its dollar peg.
  5. Pay via TON Connect (Tonkeeper, MyTonWallet) or manually from any wallet holding TON/USDT-TON. Bitpanda, Binance DE, and Kraken all let German residents buy TON or USDT.
  6. Stars or the Premium crown appear on the target account, typically in under 30 seconds after the on-chain confirm.

A worked example

Imagine a buyer in Berlin wants to gift a friend in Hamburg 12 months of Premium. In-app purchase is blocked for both accounts. The buyer has a Tonkeeper wallet with ~25 TON in it. They:

  • Open mystars.tg/premium, click the 12-month plan (listed at roughly 24 TON).
  • Type the Hamburg friend's username; the pre-flight check confirms the account exists and shows the profile so there's no typo.
  • Connect Tonkeeper, confirm the transaction, which settles in a few seconds plus a small TON network gas fee.
  • Watch the success screen; the friend's Premium crown appears well under a minute later.

Neither person changed a phone number, swapped a SIM, or re-set their App Store region. The friend didn't need to install anything new. The Berlin buyer paid the listed TON amount, no surprises at checkout.

If something goes wrong

Same reversal protection as any other MyStars.tg purchase:

  • Payment issue or delivery failure — if something goes wrong with a payment, funds are returned to the sending wallet on-chain automatically, minus a small network fee. You don't file a ticket.
  • Wrong chain — this one isn't auto-reversible. USDT only works on the TON network for our flow. If you send USDT-ERC20 or USDT-TRC20 by mistake, we can't deliver and the funds won't come back. The payment instructions show the chain explicitly; double-check your wallet's network picker before confirming.

For other error cases (you see "unsupported region" on a different screen than the Premium/Stars purchase one), see our Telegram unsupported region error fix — the Germany block and the generic "unsupported region" string are related but not identical problems.

What we won't tell you

We don't "unblock" Telegram Premium in Germany. Nobody does. We deliver the standard Telegram gift, which Telegram's own TOS permit. That's a meaningful distinction: we're not asking you to spoof your location, misrepresent your phone country to Telegram, or pretend to be in Austria. You stay a Berlin-based user on a German SIM. You just pay for the gift with a TON wallet instead of a Visa card.

We also won't promise this stays working forever. Telegram can change availability at any time — the whole reason this article exists is that regional availability moves. If Telegram hardens the block at the API level and refuses cross-region gifts to DE accounts, we'll say so clearly and refund any transactions that can't be completed. The auto-reversal logic above isn't a marketing line; it's the default behavior of the system.
