Telegram Gift Marketing: Reach Your Audience With Gifts and a Note

Telegram gift marketing: a gift with a personal note reaches people that channel posts, bot broadcasts and cold DMs miss

Most Telegram marketing plans hit the same wall: reach. Your channel posts land in a muted feed. Your bot can only message people who pressed Start. A cold DM from an account nobody knows goes to a message-requests folder that most people never open.

A Telegram gift works differently. It arrives as a gift, it comes from a real, named account, and it can carry a short personal note. That makes it one of the few ways to put your message in front of a specific person, even if they have never joined your channel or started your bot.

This guide is for marketers who grow audiences on Telegram. It covers where gifts fit next to your channel, bot and ads, how to plan gift campaigns by funnel stage, how to choose between regular gifts and the new limited collectible gifts, and how to measure what a campaign actually returns.

Why a gift gets opened when a message doesn't

Three things set a gift apart from an ordinary outreach message:

  1. It is a gift, not an ask. People open presents. The note attached to it is read in the context of receiving something, not being sold to.
  2. It has real value for the recipient. A regular Telegram gift can be kept on the profile or converted into Telegram Stars by the recipient for a limited time after it arrives. The conversion returns part of the gift's price to their Star balance. Either way, the recipient gains something tangible.
  3. It comes from a person or brand they can see. The gift shows who sent it (unless you choose to hide the sender), so the recipient can tap through to your profile, channel or bot.

That combination (attention, value and a clear next step) turns a gift from a nice gesture into a marketing channel you can plan, target and measure.

How Gift Outreach works

Gift Outreach on MyStars.tg turns gift sending into a campaign you can plan and track. Here is the flow:

  1. Connect a sending account. Gifts go out from a Telegram account you connect (by phone or QR code, with 2FA supported), and recipients see that account as the sender.
  2. Build a recipient list. Paste @usernames or upload a .txt or .csv file, up to 5,000 usernames per list. Duplicates are removed automatically, and lists are saved so you can reuse and edit them.
  3. Check the usernames. Every entry is looked up through your account. You see who is a valid user and who is a bot, doesn't exist, has blocked you, or has turned off gifts in their privacy settings. Only deliverable recipients stay in the campaign.
  4. Create the campaign. Pick a regular gift from Telegram's catalog or a limited collectible (see below), write an optional note of up to 128 characters, and choose whether to show or hide the sender.
  5. Send. Gifts go out a few at a time, within the account's daily allowance, and every recipient gets their own delivery status.

How payment works. The Stars for the gifts themselves come from your sending account's own Star balance, which you top up with an ordinary Telegram Stars purchase. MyStars.tg charges only a small service fee for running the campaign, shown before you pay.

Where gifts fit in your Telegram marketing mix

Gifts don't replace your channel, bot or ads. They fill the gap those channels leave: reaching a specific person who isn't currently listening.

Channel Who it reaches Needs prior opt-in Personal note Value to recipient
Channel post Subscribers, if they open the feed Yes (joined) No None
Bot broadcast Users who pressed Start Yes (started bot) Templated None
Cold DM Anyone with a username No Yes None
Telegram Ads Audiences of chosen channels No No None
Gift + note Anyone with a username who accepts gifts No Yes, up to 128 characters The gift itself

The practical rule: use channels and bots for people who already follow you, ads for broad awareness, and gifts for named, high-value individuals where one response is worth more than the cost of the gift.

Plan gifts by funnel stage

Rather than sending gifts "because we can", attach every campaign to one stage of your funnel and one metric. For more ready-made scenarios, see eight ways teams send gifts to a list.

Acquisition: open the door with people who matter

Target creators, channel admins, potential partners and B2B leads: people whose single "yes" is worth dozens of ad clicks. The gift makes your first contact recognisable, so the follow-up pitch isn't a cold one.

  • Metric: reply rate and meetings booked per 100 gifts.
  • Sample note: "Loved your thread on mini app growth. A small thank-you from our team. Open to a quick chat next week?"

Activation: turn sign-ups into first actions

People who joined a waitlist, registered for a webinar or started your bot but never came back already know you. A gift with a single next step gives them a reason to return now.

  • Metric: share of recipients who complete the first key action within a week.
  • Sample note: "Your beta access is live! Here's a gift to celebrate. Open @YourBot and send /start to begin."

Retention and win-back: re-engage the quiet part of your list

Past customers and lapsed community members are the cheapest audience to bring back. A gift stands out where one more broadcast would be muted.

  • Metric: reactivation rate versus a held-back control group.
  • Sample note: "It's been a while! A small gift from us. Our new season starts Monday, and we'd love you back."

Advocacy: reward the people who already promote you

Top commenters, moderators, ambassadors and referrers deserve recognition in public. Gifts show on profiles, so rewarding advocates also advertises your community to everyone who visits their profile.

  • Metric: retention of top contributors, and new referrals after the campaign.
  • Sample note: "Thank you for helping 200+ newcomers in our chat this month. You make this community work."

Two kinds of gifts you can send

Gift Outreach supports both kinds of Telegram gifts, so you can match the gift to the audience and the budget:

Regular gifts Limited collectible gifts
Where they come from Telegram's standard gift catalog Telegram's in-app resale market
Availability Always available, no edition limit Sold-out limited editions, while listings last
Price Fixed catalog price in Stars Market price, never above the cap you set
For the recipient Keep it on the profile or convert it into Stars Keep, display, transfer or resell it
Best for Wide lists: win-back, activation, community thank-yous A small VIP tier, key partners, top advocates

Regular (non-limited) gifts are the everyday workhorse: predictable cost, instant availability and real value for the recipient, which makes them right for most campaigns. Collectibles are the premium layer on top.

New: send limited collectible gifts

Telegram releases some gifts in limited editions. Once the original run sells out, those gifts are no longer available from the regular catalog. They keep trading as numbered collectible items on Telegram's own in-app resale market, each with its own model, backdrop and symbol.

Gift Outreach can now send these collectibles to a whole list. Instead of hunting for individual items, you set a rule:

  • Collection: which limited gift you want to send.
  • Filters (optional): model, backdrop and symbol. Leave them empty to accept any.
  • Price cap: the most you are willing to pay per gift, in Stars.

When each recipient's turn comes, the campaign buys the cheapest matching listing at or under your cap and delivers it straight to that person, with your note and your choice of showing or hiding the sender.

A few things work differently from regular gifts:

  • Prices move. The campaign shows both the expected spend (based on today's cheapest listings) and the maximum (your cap times the number of recipients). No single gift ever costs more than your cap.
  • Coverage is checked before you pay. If the market can't currently cover your whole list under the cap, you see how many recipients it can cover and what cap would cover everyone.
  • Thin market, automatic pause. If nothing matches under your cap at send time, the campaign pauses, re-checks periodically, and resumes automatically when suitable listings appear. You get a notification in Telegram.
  • Only listings priced in Stars are used, and some recipients may have turned off collectible gifts in their privacy settings. The username check flags them in advance.

Collectibles cost more than regular gifts, so reserve them for the top of your pyramid: VIP customers, key partners, your most valuable advocates, or a short list of high-value leads. A tiered programme works well: regular gifts for the wider list, a collectible for the top few.

Writing a note that gets a response

You have 128 characters. A few rules that consistently work:

  • Lead with the recipient, not with you. "You're one of our first 100 users" beats "Our company is launching…"
  • Give one reason for the gift. A thank-you, a win, an invitation. Pick one.
  • Point to one next step. Your bot, your channel or a reply. More than one call to action dilutes all of them.
  • Sign it. A first name or team name makes it feel personal.
  • Show the sender for marketing. Hiding the sender suits surprises and personal gifts, but a marketing campaign only works if the recipient can find you.

Deliverability and good practice

Gift campaigns are sent from a real Telegram account, so treat that account like a sender reputation you want to protect. That is exactly why it should be a dedicated account (your own second account or a service account from us), not your personal one.

  • Pacing is built in. A newly connected account starts at 20 gifts a day and gains 20 more every 24 hours after its first delivered gift, up to 100 a day. The daily count resets at 00:00 UTC and is shared across all campaigns on that account. If Telegram asks the account to slow down, sending waits as instructed.
  • Clean your lists. Run the username check before every campaign. Remove bots, non-existent usernames and people who have blocked you.
  • Send to people who will recognise you. Customers, community members, event sign-ups and partners respond well. Scraped or random lists do not: they generate reports and damage the sending account. Relevance is also what makes a campaign pay off.
  • Space out your campaigns. A gift a month to the same person feels generous; a gift a day feels like spam.

Measuring results

A gift campaign is only as good as what happens after delivery. To measure it:

  • Use a dedicated link or bot start parameter in the note or on your profile for each campaign (for example t.me/YourBot?start=gift_sept), so new starts can be attributed.
  • Track replies and profile visits in the days after delivery. Replies are often the most valuable signal for partner and influencer campaigns.
  • Compare against a control. Hold back a slice of a list, send nothing, and compare their activity with the gifted group.
  • Calculate cost per result. Divide the total campaign cost by the number of replies, reactivations or first actions. Compare it with what the same result costs you through ads or other channels.
  • Check per-recipient status. Gift Outreach shows the delivery result for every username, so you know exactly who received what.

Planning the budget

A regular gift campaign costs:

gift price × number of recipients, paid from the sending account's Star balance, plus the MyStars service fee, shown before you confirm.

For example, 200 recipients × a 15-Star gift needs 3,000 Stars on the sending account, plus the service fee shown at checkout.

For limited collectible gifts, plan with the maximum: your price cap × the number of recipients. The service fee is calculated on that maximum, and the expected spend shown in the campaign tells you what today's market would actually charge.

Get started

Pick one of the use cases above, build a list of people who already know you, and write one clear note. Then set up your first Gift Outreach campaign. You can connect a dedicated account or order a service account from us, check your list and see the full cost before you pay.
